1) Is this compulsory?
Ans: Yes. Swimming is part of the PE syllabus in Hong Wen School.
________________________________________________________________________

2) What are the things to bring for swimming?
Ans:  a. Swimming Trunks (no shorts) / Swimming Costume / Bodysuit
          b. Plastic Bag
          c. Towel
          d. Water Bottle
          e. School Uniform and school shoes / sandals
          f.  Goggles
          g. Sun Block (SPF 30) (optional)

3) Is this programme free for all Primary 4 pupils including foreign pupils?
Ans: Yes, this is partially subsidized by the MOE-SPORTSG Co Funding Scheme and partially subsidized by the school.

4) My child is in Pro-Teach after school student care. What should I do?

Ans : Please infrom the Pro-Teach teacher in charge of Primary 4 pupils, informing him/her of the dates and the time. Your child will leave in the school bus for the swimming complex and will return on the school bus and report back to Pro-Teach.

4) Can I fetch my child from Kallang Basin Swimming Complex 
Ans : Yes, please inform your child's form teacher or inform the teacher in-charge of swimming, Mr Shen Weixiong about this arrangement.
 
NOTE: Pupils whose parents did not indicate their intent of picking up their child before the start of the programme will be bought back to school for dismissal after each SwimSafer lesson.

5) What time can I fetch my child from the swimming complex?
Ans : Please come at 3.55pm. If parents are not at the pool by 4.00pm, your child will have to join the bus back to Hong Wen School and you would have to pick up your child from HWS.

This is for security of your child, as well as to ensure that other pupils are able to catch their school buses on time.

6) Are the children walking to Kallang Basin Swimming Complex?
Ans : No. A school bus is provided to bring the pupils from school to the swimming complex and back to school.

7) What happens if it rains?

Ans :  Theory and practical lessons (under proper shelter) will be conducted either in school or in the swimming complex.

8) Must the children wear the swimming attire for the entire duration of the day?
Ans : No. The pupils will bring their swimming attire and change only before boarding the bus.

9) What if my child has CCA on the day of the swimming?

Ans: Your child will go for the swimming programme. The teachers in charge of the CCA will know which classes are going on the CCA dates and will indicate swimming on their attendance list.

10) Will my child have enough time to eat lunch before going for the swimming programme?

Ans : Yes. The children will be given time to eat before changing and boarding the bus.

11) My child already knows how to swim. Must he/she still go?
Ans : Yes. All children will be placed at their respective swimming proficiency level at the first lesson. For example, if your child has already achieved a Bronze stage etc, the coaches will determine his/ her level and group the students accordingly and customise the programme to their level. They will not start at the beginning level.

12. How many stages are there in SwimSafer?
 Ans: There are 6 stages in SwimSafer. Please feel free to read  here

13. Will the school be providing the Swimsafer certificate.
 Ans: No. Swimming certification is now under ActiveSG. As such, plesae visit https://members.myactivesg.com/swimsafer to access the swimming E-Cert (pupils are required to pass both practical and theory tests).
